The Ruby Goodhew Foundation understands the hardship Student Veterinary Nurses face during their studies. Often, SVNs are on a low income and have a busy time juggling studying, working, social life and family life. Inevitably when a career requires dedication and a high level of emotional attachment it can be difficult to ask for help when needed.
Our aim is to try and support SVNs by taking on some of the financial burdens they face, so they can focus on being the best nurse they can be. We aim to do this in a number of ways, such as but not limited to the following:
- Educational Supplies (textbooks, learning equipment, devices)
- Travel Expenses (petrol or public transport to college, study groups or exams)
- Exam Support (travel expenses, assistance towards overnight stay)
- Support for those with Special Educational Needs or Disability (specialist Equipment, coloured paper/overlays, ergonomic resources)
Please tell us if you are leaving care, a young carer or if you are experiencing extreme financial hardship as you may be able to apply for an exceptional circumstance payment.
If you are an student veterinary nurse and need support in ways not mentioned above, please drop us an email to see if we can help.
Applications for Funding can be made by completing a request form which should be emailed to info@therubygoodhewfoundation.co.uk for consideration.
Please note that to ensure we are able to support as many student veterinary nurses as possible grants are limited to a maximum of £250 unless there are exceptional circumstances. You are however able to reapply after 6 months.
All applications will be considered within 6 weeks and a decision is made by Trustees and a selection panel of industry experts, advisors and educationalists.
We have a limited number of grants each month and should you not be successful your application will be reconsidered in the next tranche.
If you work within the Veterinary industry and are able to support Ruby’s Foundation then please help us by donating a one off payment or consider making a small regular monthly donation by standing order or direct debit – we are extremely grateful for any support given.
